Never a Good Time to Give Up!
Part III
As we continue to read through Jeremiah’s letter of encouragement to those going into exile, we find the second truth that we need to apply to our life. And that is: It’s important to not stop doing what we are supposed to be doing.
The first thing we find in verse 4 is that God has not forgotten us. So the natural sequence would be, since God has not forgotten us, we need to make sure we do the right things with our lives. And giving up is not the right thing to do.
Note what the prophet wrote in verse 5: “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. {6} Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease. Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
Please allow me to paraphrase this: Make the best of your circumstances. Live your life. I haven’t forgotten you and I won’t forget to bless your righteous living!”
Paul wrote to us in Galatians 6: 9 “Let us not become weary
in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give
up.”
It’s never too late to
do the right thing and it’s never a good time to give up!
Always in Pursuit!
